The Ritz was wonderful — our room was incredible (we genuinely wish we could have stayed longer), and the interiors throughout the property are gorgeous, very Georgian and 19th-century in a way that made you feel transported. Even though we weren't able to check in early, the front desk shared that the delay was because they were working to get us into an upgraded room, and I really appreciated being told that — it makes the wait so easy when it's framed honestly. Breakfast was good (though Okura still has the edge on that front), and walkability was just okay — we leaned more on Ubers — but every staff member we encountered was warm and friendly.
The honeymoon recognition here was the most generous of any hotel on our trip — they sent macarons and the lovely Fora honeymoon gift, which made us feel so special (huge thank you to Melissa for arranging that). I'd brought small omiyage gifts for the hotels along the way, and the Ritz bell desk team was particularly delightful about it — one bell desk rep took a packet of Everything But the Bagel seasoning home and reported back that his girlfriend loved it. Practical bonus: the hotel is connected to a lot of shops via underground tunnels, which we discovered we needed when we had to buy an extra suitcase in a rainstorm and could walk it back without ever stepping outside. Hospitable, beautiful, memorable — would absolutely return.
