Disappointing stay here given the cost. Very slow check-in process and staff were not very warm. Our onsen was ice cold when we arrived - they did fix this as quickly as they could but it took 2 hours to drain and refill. Rooms had significant wear and tear (marks on walls, sagging sofa, water marked trays, algae around edge of the private onsen, hard water marks on shower doors and window). Expected more based on the price and compared to the other 4 star hotels we stayed at in Japan

Beautiful and zen experience at this lovely resort on the river. Be aware that to get there you go by boat from their reception lobby at the bottom of the hill where you check-in. Also be prepared for steps up into the resort itself so not for travelers with limited mobility. The rooms each have the wooden soaking tub so if you crave the Onsen experience this is a good substitute. Each night there was a special addition such as herbs, or Soaking Saki to add to the water to enhance your soak. Each room had a beautiful view of the river. The service and food were exceptional. I recommend you try the Western Breakfast at least once because the Soy Corn Soup that comes on the tray is marvelous.

Our stay here was truly magical—one of those places you don’t forget. The onsen experience was incredibly relaxing and peaceful, and the entire setting felt like a retreat. Surrounded by nature, there were beautiful trails nearby that made it easy to explore during the day and completely unwind afterward. The food was exceptional. I chose the Western breakfast and it was absolutely delightful—fresh, beautifully presented, and the perfect way to start the day. Everything about this stay felt intentional and calming. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, recharge, and enjoy a unique experience, this is it.

What a place! It was out of this world. Such a beautiful location and the staff were wonderful. The room was amazing, with a private onsen which we made good use of. We also booked a shiatsu massage which was very relaxing. We also enjoyed the art activity on offer; what a lovely thing to do. I have to give special mention to the food. When the hotel learned I was vegetarian, they provided a spectacular feast for me for dinner, and also for breakfast. We wished we had been there for longer, and will definitely be coming back.
