I've never experienced anything like the Four Seasons Koh Samui. From the moment we were picked up at the airport in a Mercedes SUV (with cold towels, snacks, and chilled water) to when were left, everything was impeccable.
Location: The location of the FSKS was slightly out of the way (about 20 mins from Fisherman's Village) but that was perfect for us - we had no interest in leaving the property as it was so incredible. From the reception area and the main restaurant at the top of the peak, you could see Koh Phangan and Ang Thong National Marine Park, and the beach is peaceful and stunning. No reason to leave :)
Room: We stayed in the lowest category room (though we received an upgrade thanks to booking via Fora) and it was outstanding for the two of us. Large comfortable king sized bed, extremely spacious bathroom/dressing room area, a huge stone tub to relax in, and every area (including the bathtub!) had STUNNING views of the private infinity pool overlooking the beach and Koh Phangan. The deck area had two sun chairs right by the pool, and a comfortable lounging bed under a covered area to the side.
The room was well appointed with wonderful linens, fresh local fruits, plenty of bottled water, etc. Every detail was considered - leave a pair sunglasses on the desk, and the fabulous housekeeping team will lay out a glass cleaning cloth for them to rest on.
Food: The breakfast included in our package was outstanding. A fabulous menu of made to order items ranging from omelettes to noodle soup was available, as was an incredible buffet of fresh items, ranging from yogurt, fresh honey (dripping from actual honeycomb), perfect pastries, homemade ice cream (seems odd but I definitely tried it!), to dim sum, thai meals like pad thai or curries, and a talented chef ready to make any type of eggs/pancakes/etc. you may want. Freshly squeezed juices were always available to go with your specialty coffee. Even if the food weren't a 10/10 (which it was!), the service and the view would take it there.
We at dinner twice at the Thai restaurant (served in the same location as breakfast) and twice at the Mediterranean restaurant by the beach. Both were excellent and included a number of included special treats, like an amuse bouche, or a small sweet dessert, or even a shot of limoncello. Food was outstanding across the board.
Pool/beach: The main pool is gorgeous and overlooks the beach. We didn't spend much time there as we were in heaven in our private room/pool but we did go once and I can see why people love it. We aren't big drinkers so the draw of the bar didn't do it for us. The beach is quite shallow and has a lot of coral/rocks to explore. When the tide is low, the beach attendant provides water shoes should you want them, and you can also take a paddle board or a kayak to the floating dock in the deeper water. Water was clean, warm, and calm.
Service: it's hard to know where to start. Every person you meet at the FSKS is wonderful. Kind, thoughtful, warm, friendly...they are constantly trying to anticipate your needs. Within one day, they all seemed to know what villa we were staying in, our last names, etc. They would ask how our tour to the Marine park was (how did they all know!), would be standing by with towels before we left the property (why didn't I think of that!) and always available to help. They use Whatsapp to communicate with guests and that was seamless and quick. Given the property is spread out over quite the incline, you need a golf cart/buggy to get you around. Send a quick note and the buggy would appear in minutes, with a kind driver jumping out to open your door. Want to book a tour? The concierge will communicate via the messages to find the right price/activity for you and arrange for everything.
My husband and I both felt emotional leaving the FSKS - we'll never forget that experience and can only dream to go back one day.
